About Us
PRESERVING BRAZIL’S MUSICAL SOUL
Many Brazilian talents remain unheard. A Voz Que Fica records new English-language songs with Brazilian jazz roots, with Brazil's legends (and their disciples) mentoring youth, captured in film, funding musical scholarships through "Rio de Música", a Rio non-profit.
OUR MISSION
Through two albums, one film, and ongoing scholarships, we unite legendary artists and emerging talent. All music and film proceeds directly support Rio based comunidade youth with mentorship, instruments, and opportunity. This is not commerce-it is cultural continuity.
1 Film · 2 Albums · 100% proceeds → youth scholarships

OUR VISION
To ensure Brazil’s musical soul lives on—connecting masters and new voices, so future generations inherit both the sound and the spirit of its music.
THE STORY BEHIND A VOZ QUE FICA
A Voz que Fica was created out of gratidão. Brazilian music helped rebuild my body and my life, so this project is my thank-you: two albums and a vérité film that bridge generations. Imagine the spark of the Getz/Gilberto encounter, witnessed on camera, with the living-room warmth of Buena Vista Social Club, and rooted in Brazil’s present.
The “why” began after a near-fatal crash in 1997 that left my left arm paralyzed and my wrist shattered. In Atlanta, I met Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Marcelo Camera, who, without a word, placed his beloved pandeiro in my hands. That act became my rehabilitation and my compass back to rhythm. I practiced, healed, and soon stood beside Marcelo onstage, learning samba and bossa from the inside.
From there, I wrote quietly for years, gathering originals where Brazilian phrasing, jazz harmony, and storytelling meet. Nearly 30 years later, Marcelo wrote the foreword to my first lead-sheet book.
