A New Songbook For The Brave And The Tender
This music was never meant to be hoarded.
It was written for hands that feel...ears that trust silence...
true artists who know when a melody arrives fully formed, it isn’t theirs to keep.
These are jazz standards in the making.
And your voice may be the one they’ve been waiting for.

What Others Are Saying!

About David Baumgarten
David Baumgarten is a composer and author whose emotionally-driven jazz, bossa, and samba songs are meant to be interpreted...stretched, reshaped, and evolved by the world’s finest musicians.
With no formal training but a lifelong devotion to poetry, jazz, and a student and lover of Brazilian music, David composes by voice, memory, and instinct, guided more by feeling than form. His melodies echo the lyricism of Jobim, the complexity of Monk, and the emotional honesty of Nina Simone.
Collaborating with arrangers to craft full lead sheets, he creates music rooted in narrative, depth, and spiritual resonance. His published works include New Jazz Standards, Jazz Explorations, art biographies, and philosophical explorations...all reflecting a pursuit of beauty, resilience, and human connection.
David lives between his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, and their Appalachian mountains weekend farmstead with his wife and son, composing, writing, and quietly defining for himself what it means to be an artist today.

“A Voz que Fica” is a legacy project...a call to the finest Brazilian musicians over multiple generations to interpret his songs and shape a collective body of work that lives on beyond any one voice.
