A Voz que Fica
Recordings
These songs from The Baumgarten Songbook come to life through an extraordinary Brazilian ensemble: with legends Paula Morelenbaum (Hope in My Heart & If Only the Moon) and Joyce Moreno (Someday Soon) vocal expressions, Jaques Morelenbaum on cello, Roberto Menescal on guitar, André Siqueira on percussion, Guto Wirtti on double bass, Marcelo Costa on drums, Aline Gonçalves on winds, and arranger/producer Antonio Guerra on piano and accordion.
Together they move the music from moonlit bossa and intimate longing through restless hope and intimate jazz-bolero tension, allowing each song to breathe in the unmistakable rhythmic and harmonic language of Brazil. The result is less a Brazilian treatment of the songs than their rebirth inside a living musical tradition...lyrical, sophisticated, deeply human, and connected to a lineage stretching from Jobim and the birth of bossa nova into contemporary Brazilian jazz.
